Privacy Policy
Monaith privacy policy
Monaith is a financial alignment product. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it for dashboards, briefings, goals, Talk Mode, and related features, how Plaid fits in, and how you can disconnect or delete data.
Last updated: May 30, 2026
What data Monaith may collect
When you connect a financial institution, Monaith may receive read-only data through Plaid or a similar third-party provider. Depending on what you connect and which products are enabled, this may include:
- Account metadata, such as account names, account types, masks, and institution names.
- Balances, so Monaith can calculate near-term cash position and account-level context.
- Transactions, including merchant, amount, date, category, and pending or posted status.
- Recurring transaction data, such as likely bills, subscriptions, payroll, and cadence.
- Institution metadata, such as the connected financial institution and Plaid item status.
- Identity data only if Monaith enables that Plaid product and clearly asks for it.
Why Monaith uses this data
Monaith uses your data to operate the product you signed up for, not to sell it. We may use connected financial data for:
- Financial alignment insights that compare spending patterns with goals and rules.
- Dashboards, forecasts, and month-end pace or safe-to-spend views.
- Briefings and Talk Mode answers when you ask for explanations.
- Goals, nudges, and protected habits tied to your connected data.
- Recurring bill and subscription detection and cash-flow pacing views.
How Monaith uses the data
Plaid-derived and account data power dashboard insights, briefing context, goals, nudges, protected habits, and Talk Mode when you ask questions. Monaith does not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers. We use data to provide and improve the service for the user who connected the account.
Monaith does not move money. We do not initiate transfers or payments on your behalf.
Plaid and third-party connections
Bank login credentials are handled by Plaid or your financial institution's chosen provider, not by Monaith. We do not store your bank password. Connection tokens and sync are handled on the server side and are not exposed to other users.
Plaid is an independent service with its own terms and privacy practices. When you connect through Plaid, you are also subject to Plaid's agreements with you and your institution. Monaith cannot control how long Plaid or your bank retains copies of data outside Monaith's systems.
Service providers
Monaith uses service providers to run the product, including hosting, analytics, email delivery, authentication, security monitoring, and product operations. Those providers process data on our instructions to deliver the service, not to sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
Data retention
We retain Plaid-derived and account data while your Monaith account is active so the product can show history, forecasts, recurring bills, and context. After you disconnect, delete financial data, or delete your account, we delete or de-identify data where reasonably possible.
Some data may be retained for a limited period where required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, backups, audit logs, or ordinary operations, even after a deletion request, and then removed according to our retention practices.
Your controls
From your account you can:
- Disconnect a bank account from Account → Settings → Privacy and data controls. This stops future sync but does not by itself remove data already stored.
- Delete Plaid-derived financial data (accounts, transactions, recurring streams, briefings, protected habits) from the same panel. This is narrower than deleting your account; goals and your sign-in stay.
- Delete your Monaith account from the same panel. This removes your shared account and is broader than deleting financial data alone.
Security
Monaith applies reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data in transit and at rest. No online service can guarantee perfect security. Bank login credentials remain with Plaid (or your institution's provider), not in Monaith.
Limitations
Monaith does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect accuracy, or that every copy of your data will be erased from third-party systems outside our control. Deletion within Monaith follows our process and retention rules described above.
Terms of Service
These privacy practices sit alongside the Monaith Terms of Service.
